Friday Fun – To Infinity and Beyond!
David Plaut has been approved as a member of the Board of Visitors for the University of Texas at Austin McDonald Observatory and Department of Astronomy Board of Visitors. David has had a life-long interest in astronomy, which he began exploring in college at Johns Hopkins during the construction of the Hubble Space Telescope. As a Longhorn and long-time fan of the Big Bend country and West Texas, David is thrilled with this honor and looks forward to working with the Board of Visitors as an ambassador of Texas astronomy for years to come. The Board of Visitors has been an integral part of past successes for UT astronomy, such as funding endowed chairs, other professorships, as well as graduate and postdoctoral fellowships. Additionally, the BOV helps insure the viability of the magnificent Hobby-Eberly Telescope, the Hobby-Eberly Telescope Dark Energy Experiment, the Frank N. Bash Visitors Center, and much more. And in case you are wondering, David is a Pisces, though he tells me that is not what this is about.
